Site Development
Since 2004, RENERCO has been involved in the development of geothermal projects in Bavaria. The Bavarian “Molasse Basin”, which encompasses large regions in Southern Bavaria, represents one of the regions in Germany where favourable geothermal conditions prevail. The low level of minerals found in deep-circulating groundwater and a low failure rate in finding geothermal sources have made this region one of the precursors in the use of geothermal energy.
Through the joint venture “Süddeutsche Geothermie- Projekte GmbH & Co. KG”, which was established together with two partners in 2007, RENERCO has already carried out two successful drilling projects in the Bavarian Molasse Basin. With the doublet drilling projects carried out at Dürrnhaar and Kirchstockach, RENERCO has contributed substantially to the development of a regenerative energy source that is still in its infancy in Germany.
In addition, a portfolio of mining privileges, which can be implemented in the coming years, is being systematically developed within the scope of the joint venture.
