RENERCO pools the know-how gained over many years, and this forms the basis for the company's success. A number of milestones mark the foundation and expansion of the company:
1989: Establishment of ETAPLAN GmbH [engineering firm for energy technology analysis and planning], Munich, by Erich Hau.
1990: Involvement in the first major commercial wind farm, “Nordfriesland”, at the onshore dike of Sylt, Germany.
1994: Establishment of BVT Energie- und Umwelttechnik AG, Munich, as an associated company in the renewable energies sector.
1998: Establishment of PDF Project Development Fund Management, Munich, a joint venture between Thyssen Rheinstahl Technik, HypoVereinsbank, BVT Holding, and ETAPLAN for the development of wind farms in Italy and Spain.
2003: Merger of the three companies to form RENERCO Renewable Energy Concepts AG, Munich.
2005: Internationalisation: Following initial projects in Italy and Spain, expansion of business activity to include France and Eastern Europe.
2006: Entry of Babcock & Brown as the majority shareholder.
2007: Construction of the first photovoltaic plant in the megawatt class.
2008: Successful geothermal deep drilling at Dürrnhaar.
2009: The first wind projects in Italy and France commence operations.
2009: Acquisition of the majority shareholding by BayWa r.e, a BayWa AG company.
2010: Market entry in the UK through a framework agreement concluded with RWE Innogy concerning onshore wind projects for 200 MW.
2011: Completion of project financing for the geothermal power plants at Dürrnhaar and Kirchstockach.
2011: The first wind projects in Bavaria, Germany and Poland commence operations.
2012: Opening of the subsidiary RENERCO Energies SAS in Paris
